DELAWARE COUNTY CELEBRATES FIRST BIPOC, LGBTQQIA+, AND YOUTH CENTER

DATE: February 10, 2024

TIME: 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Ribbon cutting at 12:00pm)

PLACE: U.D.T.J. Community Center, 115 Fairfield Ave, Upper Darby, PA, 19082 (second floor)

WHAT: The community of Delaware County will dedicate and celebrate the official opening and ribbon cutting of the County’s first BIPOC, LGBTQQIA+, and Youth Community Center. Festivities include a ribbon cutting, open house, light refreshments, speakers, and an exhibit of the history and progress of U.D.T.J.

The 1,200 square foot center is centrally located and accessible with public transit across the Delaware Valley. The Center will have three major functions providing space for community building, connecting residents with local resources and services, and youth empowerment programs and workshops.

The center will improve community health, well-being, resiliency, and safety by creating a safe space for the community, bridging the gap in resources and services, improving accessibility, empowering our youth, and addressing the intersectionality between communities. U.D.T.J. has a passion for advocacy, activism, and a sense of community.

Since 2020, our organization has been on the forefront of local social and criminal justice battles, founded Delaware County Pride, launched Upper Darby Mural Arts, served the unhoused at our monthly outreach, and provided for families in-need during the holidays with our Holiday Assistance Program.

The center, which brings together organizations and groups from nonprofits and community groups across the region. This center was made possible in part by funding from numerous community donations, grants, and community partnerships.
