Pride on State

Information for Businesses

If you are interested in having your business or organization host an event for Pride on State please refer to the information below and email us at operations@udtj.org

Event Goals:

Through partnering with local bars and other establishments, “Pride on State'' can create safe and welcoming spaces for LGBTQQIA+ young adults to socialize, celebrate, and enjoy themselves. Currently, there are no such spaces in Delaware County for LGBTQQIA+ young adults and above. In addition, in exchange for hosting events we can help support local businesses that are allied and welcoming to our LGBTQQIA+ community.

Business Participation:

Business participation comes at little to no cost to the business directly. Participation is voluntary. In helping create and foster spaces for the LGBTQQIA+ community in Delaware County. Businesses are invited to participate in this event in one of two ways:

Formal Participation:

  • Through a formal participation, the business/establishment would be designated as an official “Pride on State” location and would be featured on all promotional materials leading up to the event. Formal participants would gain the benefit of having Delco Pride secure entertainment for the venue that can include but not limited to, possible drag performances, open mics, karaoke, and more. See the list below for more ideas and suggestions.

  • Through formal participation, the venue would agree to host some form of LGBTQQIA+ entertainment without an entry charge to the public. The business would also work collaboratively with Delco Pride to theme decorations, custom cocktails, etc.

  • Formal participation would not include Delco Pride renting the spaces for such an event but instead would be considered Delco Pride sponsors in the form of an in-kind contribution to the non-profit organization.

  • Formal participating locations would also be designated a time slot of 1 to 2 hours after the Pride Parade on a first come first serve basis. These time slots would help ensure the participating location would attract the highest crowds possible for their hosted event. In other words, formally participating businesses would not have to worry about competing with other participating locations.

Informal Participation:

  • Informal participation places most of the role on the participating business/establishment. In an informal participation, the establishment would be allowed to charge entry, would have to secure their own performers, and decorations but would still be included in our top level promotional material.

  • Informally participating locations will not have a designated time slot, as a result they may be competing with other venues that are hosting simultaneous events.

Entertainment:

Please note, this list is just to stir up ideas and is not exhaustive. Depending on the venue, other events and activities may suit the space. Delaware County Pride looks forward to sitting down with each participating venue and crafting a unique event for each of our participating venues.

  • Examples/ideas:

    • Hosting a drag performances,

    • Hosting a karaoke/open mic,

    • Being designated as an LGBTQQIA+ bar for the night,

    • Providing a location for LGBTQQIA+ individuals to dance (DJ can be provided through Delco Pride).

    • Trivia/LGBTQQIA+ History Quizzo

    • LGBTQQIA+ Movie showing (Movies can be provided by Delco Pride)

    • Custom LGBTQQIA+ themed event tailored to the venue.

We hope you will consider participating in this historic annual local event.

History isn’t something you look back at and say it was inevitable, it happens because people make decisions that are sometimes very impulsive and of the moment, but those moments are cumulative realities.
